I just had to take a break from decorating and creating decorations to add this new blog. Not sure what I'm gonna write, but I'm sure God's got all the help I need in my fingers. During this time of year people get sick with all types of "stuff". Cold, flu, pneumonia, you name it. People hurt their backs shoveling if they're blessed to live in a snow laded place. I could go on and on about what we all suffer from during the winter months. Thankfully, doctors and experts alike announce 'prevention' tactics and tools we can use to avoid the pains and strains of everyday living through this time of year. I, myself, take lots of vitamin C, Zinc, Echinacea Tea, etc to ward of cold symptoms or at least keep them to a minimum. I beat shoveling most of the time because my 16 yr old son has been assigned this as his top priority during the winter. Since we have a teeny tiny sidewalk I figured it wasn't harmful if he managed it and it helps him be 'the man' of our house. They tend to be the outdoor keepers of the yard, trash, you name it:). Wouldn't wanna deny him of that. Okay, okay, my old bones like a warm house:). Guilty as charged. I do make sure I tell him about proper shoveling techniques and he gets regular chiropractor visits, so even with my helpful son keeping him safe from harm is important. Now back to prevention. So, even I do preventive measures to protect myself and those I love from illnesses and pain. If we're wise we should all follow measures to take care of ourselves and prevent problems in any area of our lives. I've heard a saying "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." I looked it up and the new way of saying this is "A little precaution before a crisis occurs is preferable to a lot of fixing up afterward." Either way, the point is we have to do what we can to stop problems before they occur. My short answer is the bible is the primary preventive measure, or tool, we can use to become wise and avoid most problems. When problems arise out side of our control the Word gives us ideas of how to feel better even when we can't change anything at that moment. I am living proof of this. If you've read my blogs or known me in some capacity you'd get to see God's hand at work in my life. He's brought me through so many tribulations and trials, in other words, aches and pains. Sometimes I don't always see His view or healing, but I have come to know in time they are always revealed. Unlike an illness, healing isn't always instantaneous. Sometimes it takes years to recognize His understanding and then it's like, WOW, thanks. The more we know and mature the faster we 'get' to healing and truth in our view. What I'm offering is a suggestion. If you aren't the type to care about germs, you probably won't be the one to care about sin. That's okay as I'm not here to tell you not to sin. Far be it from me to 'preach' be perfect or don't do this or that. My integrity is awesome, but not perfect and I personally doubt if I could see into everyone's hearts no one is. What I am is highly blessed and wise. I know if I do all I can to prevent problems and pain I will most likely suffer very little over the long haul. My life is beginning to reveal this truth. I rarely get sick and when I do it lasts a brief moment with little symptoms. I rarely have any drama I've brought onto myself any longer because I know what to do to prevent the attraction. Can't keep it completely from me 'cause sometimes others try to offer it. I politely decline silently by going onto something else. Sometime I'll have to blog about drama addiction. Your body gets so use to it if you were born into a family full of it that it takes a huge effort to change this. I believe its biochemical and have read that it is, so look forward to this sometime in the future as the Lord leads me. Anyway, taking Christ into our hearts doesn't prevent Crisis. On contrary, it attracts it. Have you even seen Evan Almighty? Morgan Freeman, playing God, mentions this as an answer to prayer. It's actually true. If we pray for patience God will offer us opportunities to grow in patience by giving us situations that suck it out of us. Traffic is mine these days. The less traffic I'm in the better. So daily I have to work at reminding myself to leave early, have a good meal, enough sleep, and remember to breath when upset. Hasn't completely worked yet, but I do have more good days than bad now. The prevention we need is to be wise and intelligent about our choices. Praying you'll lose weight while eating a box of Twinkies isn’t gonna cut it. You're gonna be overweight. So, either deal with the pain of poor health, if this is a result of your weight, or stop eating that 'CRAP'! Yes, crap. Christ Relationship Apathetic Prescription. Anything that keeps us from feeling our best within our control is CRAP! I realize someone reading this will think I don't believe in God, the bible, or any of this crap. Regardless of whether you believe in these things what I've shared is true. You may not believe in God, but He believe's in you and your ultimate joy while you're alive. So please, take care of yourself and live a healthy life as best you can. Lovingly yours, Patience Kim Phillips:)

Are you one of those types who slow down whenever you see a cop or someone's pulled over on the side of the road? You think, whew, I'm safe from getting caught this time. Many people see their lives this way. If no one sees them they aren't caught and they do what they shouldn't not considering themselves liable to anyone other than 'ME'. I'm here to tell you ... it's only a matter of time. Statistically speaking eventually we all get caught. The amazing this is we are always seen, both inside and out, by our God. Now, a special note for those of you who have no known God in your heart ... trust me, He sees, whether you believe it or not. The human brain is inside your thick skull, you can't see it, but it's there. Same thing. This is directed specifically at 'Christian's' who are mature or think they are. Maybe I'll do a talk about what maturity in Christ is some day. For now, He said it's like being a child ... like a child? Are you kidding? Has anyone run a day care lately? I have, and let me tell you, we don't want a bunch of 'Christian's' acting like children. Immature, misbehaving, little hellions, etc. Not what He meant. When He wants us like Children it's about our wonderment, enthusiasm, passion for Him and life for others. Think about it. How cool was it to eat dirt and make mud pies. Okay, so maybe you were a crayola muncher, point is, and it’s about innocence. The problem with most Christians, like 'adults', they know too much, use too little, and never have fun. lol. There's so much more to write on this topic. Perhaps I should write a book on Being like a Child for Him:). Eh, maybe not the best title, but you know what I mean. So, let's get back to- are you the type who acts differently when you think you're gonna get 'caught? Sure, most people at some time are. Be honest! Maybe you're a little better at not doing 'wrong' like myself, BUT you do things that would be considered less 'Christian' then not. Such as, when was the last time you looked at someone in lust, or told a white lie? Felt judgment for a split second, or got mad about something that didn't warrant a reaction so harsh? If you aren't, what's that one thing you do that isn't perfect? My point is God always sees everything. He's always with us whether we're 'saved' or not. The main thing to consider is . . . if I'm gonna get caught anyway, what's the sacrifice I offer when I have to own up to my resolve to do it despite knowing better . . . the sacrifice is your very soul. Tell God, in your best Christian worship, you're sorry and repent. Especially if you judged a non Christian recently. As little as, if you were a Christian then XYZ. Those folks are missing the mark. It's about giving, abandoning your heart, to Him and doing your best, which doesn't mean judging either Christian or non Christians. I stand the risk of being judged here for stating observations. So judge me if you must. Then, follow the above directions. Think, how much confidence do you have of Him in you? Once you figure this out, you won't fall prey to being judged, desiring to judge others and you'll be on your way to doing what's right when no one's watching. It's selfless to be about the message and doing your best not to do what's wrong by choice. I'm just as guilty of my own poor decisions. BUT, abandoning your heart like David you can trust despite all his huge and small mistakes God still said he's a man after God's own heart. Be after God's heart and go the speed limit:). Patience:)
